Pregnancy Wonders & Woes
LOL...
Okay, so, fortunately I don't have that many negative side effects going on, and I have a lot of pleasant "side effects" that help to counter-balance them.
I love having a living person inside of me...however uncomfortable he or she is making it in there! The perpetual little kicks and wriggles continually remind me of the new little person that will shortly be on the outside where we can cuddle and kiss him or her...
Who are you in there?
On the not-so-fun side of things, I'm dealing with a lot of nasty heartburn already...and I still have 10 weeks for it to get progressively worse! Bleh.
The problem with heartburn in late pregnancy...you're supposed to prop yourself up at night to help, right? But you can't lay on your back, so you end up in a very awkward position that often leaves you with a neck-ache and screaming hips in the morning. I think I might end up in the rocking chair or on the couch for the latter part of this pregnancy. :-/
I know many of you moms have dealt with this...do you have any clever solutions or ideas for dealing with heartburn?

If you prop yourself high enough in bed you can still be on your back. Basically, if you can breath, you're fine. So pile on the pillows and try to get comphy! Have you tried different foods? Or sipping maybe some warm ginger tea as you try to fall asleep? (Sipping being the key...you don't want to finally get to sleep only to wake up to have to go to the bathroom!)
Jen was saying that she used to take Rolaids right before she went to bed and even kept them on her bedside table....I never tried them, but she said they worked really well.
I found that eating anything spicy or acidic for dinner was really bad, but eating something creamy (smoothy...ice cream, anyone??? ;-) or bland (like a banana) right before bed seems to help.
LOL :-)
Hope your heartburn goes away. Ucky.

My heartburn killed me. Nothing helped until I seen my dr and she told me to take Ranitadine (generic for zantac 75) it helped sooo much! Don't just deal with it and make yourself miserable.. talk to your dr, for sure!

I have used an ounce of apple cider vinegar to battle heartburn. Works really well for me. Hope you find something that works for you!
